Olatokunboh Obasi

OlaOlatokunboh Obasi, CNS, MSc, DCN (cand.), is a Clinical Herbalist, board-certified nutritionist, birthworker, and educator with nearly 20 years of experience in the wellness field. She is the Director of Well of Indigenous Wisdom School, an international online and in-person program dedicated to clinical herbalism, nutrition, and the healing arts.

Her work is deeply rooted in African Traditional Medicine and integrative healing systems, bridging indigenous wisdom with Western clinical education. Olatokunboh is a passionate health advocate, sharing her leadership and expertise as a guest educator at institutions across the United States and globally, and as a keynote speaker at health and wellness conferences.

Movement is a central pillar of her wellness philosophy. She is a lifelong student and Shiromani in the Sivananda Yoga tradition, as well as a certified dance instructor in Synergy Dance, a lineage taught by the late Charmaine Lee. These practices inform her holistic approach to health, healing, and embodiment.

Committed to community health—particularly women’s and children’s health—Olatokunboh has dedicated much of her work to education, service, and equity within herbalism. She formerly served as a Board Director of the American Herbalist Guild and Chair of the Admissions Review Advisory Committee, and was a 2019 award recipient recognized for her leadership in advancing diversity, equity, and justice in the field.

Currently living in one of her ancestral homes in Kenya, Olatokunboh continues to integrate traditional indigenous knowledge of herbs with her Western education. She holds a Master of Science from the Maryland University of Integrative Health and is presently a doctoral candidate in Functional Medicine. She also teaches intermediate and advanced clinical herbalism at Rigita School of Herbalism in Kenya.

Olatokunboh is the mother of three young adults and considers motherhood one of her greatest teachers—shaping her understanding of resilience, healing, and community care.

Founded in 2012, Well of Indigenous Wisdom began as Ola’s Herb Shop in Pittsburgh, later evolving into Omaroti in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. Today, the school operates as a collaborative platform offering education, workshops, consultations, and herbal products, alongside guest teachers and graduate practitioners. The program is dedicated to bringing people together, preserving indigenous knowledge, and supporting future generations through ethical, heart-centered education.
